RMPR Faces: Chris Peterson – our “go to” SEO guy

This week we’re introducing you to one of the best SEO experts we know, Chris Peterson. Chris helps us think outside of the box to identify online media opportunities for clients, optimize online content and guide us with anything in the search marketing realm. Here’s a little bit more about Chris inside – and outside – of the office.

What first interested you in the realm of online marketing?

I first was interested in online marketing when I became an intern at an E-commerce company so it was kind of pushed onto me.  It just so happened that it was exactly what I was looking for.

Now’s your time to set everyone straight – what’s the biggest misconception about SEO?

That it’s a trick.

You are always excited when you talk about SEO. What is it that gets you amped about what you do?

Well, I get excited because I can truly see when something is making a difference.  SEO can have such a profound impact on a business and on such a large scale.  Sometimes I feel people don’t understand or know what it can do and that gets me excited to teach.

How do you disconnect from the digital world when you’re not working?

I like the outdoors, so whenever I get the chance – be it the weekend or after work – you can find me out fishing or doing anything outside to keep me “disconnected”.  Some people like to be connected at all times but I am not one of them.  In the winter you’ll find me out skiing with my niece.

Where is the best outdoor destination in Minnesota?

Boundary Waters

Fishermen are known for their fish stories. What is one of your TRUE stories?

Quite a few years back a friend of mine and I were fishing for walleye out on Cass Lake in northern Minnesota.  My friend hooked a nice one, and as we were landing it the line snapped.  The next night, we were out at the same spot and pulled in quite a few fish.  As we were filleting one of the walleye, my buddy’s lure from the night before was still stuck deep in the throat of one of the fish.  I can now say I’ve seen the same fish caught twice.

We know that you’re getting married soon. How have you been involved in the wedding-planning process?

Good question, we just decided to get married in Vegas.
