Using her foundation in strategic communication and event management, Laura brings creative thinking, exceptional writing skills and research and organizational talents to her client work. Whether it’s discovering and applying for innovation awards for General Mills, securing media placements for bd’s Mongolian Grill or developing key messaging for Community Health Charities Minnesota, Laura incorporates enthusiasm and energy in all her efforts.
Prior to joining Risdall Public Relations, Laura interned at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and The Des Moines Register. While at The Register, Laura coordinated and developed communication materials and worked on events such as the Iowa State Fair, RAGBRAI and the Des Moines Art Festival. It was at Blue Cross that Laura established herself as an exceptional writer and strategic thinker, conceptualizing and creating both traditional and nontraditional communication materials for the corporate volunteerism program and the Community Giving Campaign. Her efforts included creating a first ever employee talent show, conceptualizing and producing a campaign video, and developing and implementing communication tactics for the campaign, raising more than $900,000 for community nonprofit organizations.
Laura graduated from Iowa State University with a B.A. degree in journalism and mass communication and minors in English and technical communication.
